Album: Oshiphigwebu EP by Zanefa Ngidi

Oshiphigwebu EP is a five-track Maskandi project from Zanefa Ngidi, continuing his traditional approach to Zulu storytelling through expressive vocals, rhythmic guitar work, and culturally rooted instrumentation. The project runs for approximately 21 minutes, offering a compact collection centered on Ngidi's distinctive Maskandi style.

The EP contains “Oshiphigwebu,” “Awuthi Veku” featuring Phindile Buthelezi, “Omahlalestolo,” “Ikhekhe Lami” featuring Masinga, and “Happy Birthday” featuring Phindile Buthezi.

Musically, Oshiphigwebu stays firmly within Maskandi, combining energetic acoustic-guitar patterns, traditional melodic elements, percussion, and direct vocal storytelling. The project maintains the authentic character of the genre while presenting its songs through polished contemporary production.

Across the project, collaborations with Phindile Buthelezi and Masinga introduce additional vocal character without moving the EP away from its traditional foundation. The result is a concise project that emphasizes storytelling, musicianship, and cultural expression.
