South African music act UndergroundKings presents the new Room 48 Album, officially released on 2 September 2026 through 3201362 Records DK. The project contains 14 tracks and runs for approximately 1 hour and 37 minutes, giving the group plenty of space to develop its long-form production style. Room 48 Album includes songs such as “Nay’Lento,” “Shayenyinto,” “Iza Nomoya,” “Iy’nkinga,” “Umnotho,” “Bafuna Something,” “Woza,” “Izinja Zam,” “Basha Abantu,” “Heavy Stayela (Dark Underground),” “Quads Mode (Dark Underground),” “Imvula (Dark Underground),” “Can’t Stop What’s Coming (Underground MusiQ)” and “Phogari (Underground MusiQ).”
Musically, Room 48 Album is rooted in Amapiano and Dance, with a strong emphasis on deeper, underground piano production. UndergroundKings builds the project around extended grooves, heavy basslines, rhythmic percussion and spacious arrangements, with several tracks running beyond six or seven minutes. The latter portion of the album moves further into the group’s darker instrumental style through records such as “Heavy Stayela (Dark Underground),” “Quads Mode (Dark Underground)” and “Imvula (Dark Underground),” giving the project a balance between collaborative vocal tracks and production-focused underground sounds.
Collaboration is particularly prominent during the first half of Room 48 Album. Nkalakatha appears across “Nay’Lento,” “Shayenyinto,” “Iza Nomoya,” “Iy’nkinga,” “Umnotho,” “Bafuna Something,” “Izinja Zam” and “Basha Abantu,” making him one of the project’s major collaborators. Sdala joins “Shayenyinto” and “Iy’nkinga,” Dambuza contributes to “Umnotho” and “Izinja Zam,” while CDX appears on “Woza” and “Basha Abantu.” The final five tracks shift the attention almost entirely back to UndergroundKings, allowing their darker Amapiano production to close out Room 48 Album.
