South African Maskandi artist Sphiwo Miya presents his new Inj'elumayo Album. The project contains 8 tracks and runs for approximately 35 minutes, delivering a compact collection centred on Miya’s isiZulu storytelling and musical expression. The tracklist consists of “Ngeke sbuyelane,” “Bathini kubani utshwala,” “Inj'elumayo,” “Emhlabeni nasezulwini,” “Second chance,” “Indiza Mshini,” “Cosha” and the bonus track “Angeke Sbuyelane.”
Musically, Inj'elumayo Album is rooted in Maskandi, with Sphiwo Miya carrying the project through a traditional South African sound and isiZulu-led songwriting. The album moves through its eight songs without becoming overly long, giving tracks such as the title song “Inj'elumayo,” “Bathini kubani utshwala” and “Cosha” room to establish their individual identities while remaining part of one focused project. The release has also gained early attention on YouTube in South Africa, with “Bathini kubani utshwala” uploaded by Sphiwo Miya’s Topic channel on 10 September.
Inj'elumayo Album keeps its collaborations selective, leaving Sphiwo Miya as the main performer across most of the record. Londeka Shangase joins him on “Emhlabeni nasezulwini,” while Amahle Dlamini appears on the closing bonus track “Angeke Sbuyelane.” The other six tracks are credited to Miya without featured performers, allowing his own voice and Maskandi identity to remain at the centre of the album while the two collaborations introduce additional vocal character at different points in the project.
