Album: Izandla Zikamama Album by Ovezuthando

Izandla Zikamama Album is a heartfelt Maskandi project from Ovezuthando, continuing the artist’s tradition of guitar-led South African music and emotionally driven storytelling. Ovezuthando’s catalogue includes projects such as Ithalente Lami, Bhulamngoma and Ehluhluwe, establishing a growing body of traditional music releases.

The title “Izandla Zikamama” translates to “Mother’s Hands,” giving the project a strong connection to motherhood, care and family. The album draws on the storytelling tradition associated with Maskandi, where personal experiences and cultural themes form an important part of musical expression.

Musically, Izandla Zikamama embraces rhythmic guitar arrangements, expressive vocals, traditional melodic structures and contemporary production. Ovezuthando’s approach maintains the cultural character of the music while presenting it through a modern recording style.

The project continues a particularly active period for Ovezuthando. Earlier in 2026, the artist released the six-track Bhulamngoma  followed by the five-track Ehluhluwe .
