South African DJ and producer Gaba Cannal presents his new uYena Pt.1 EP, released on 4 September 2026 through Gaba Cannal Music. The five-track project continues his refined approach to soulful piano music, with extended arrangements that give the melodies, vocals and instrumentation plenty of room to develop. The EP includes “My King,” “Hold On To Me,” “Bless The Children,” “AmaGrootman” and “Waiting on You,” forming a focused collection built around emotion, musicianship and immersive grooves.

Musically, uYena Pt.1 EP is rooted in Amapiano, particularly the soulful and melodic side of the genre often associated with private-school piano. Gaba Cannal combines warm piano chords, deep basslines, subtle log drums, layered percussion and atmospheric elements to create a mature and spacious sound. Rather than relying only on high-energy club production, the EP explores slower and more emotional arrangements, blending classic piano influences with contemporary Amapiano sounds.

uYena Pt.1 EP also features a carefully selected group of collaborators. Maleh appears on “My King,” Meedy and JazzyGMusique join Gaba Cannal on “Hold On To Me,” while The Bless contributes to “Bless The Children.” “AmaGrootman” features DJ Stokie and The Myth, and the closing track “Waiting on You” brings in NickSA and Eva Mdlalose. These collaborations add soulful vocals and different musical textures while keeping Gaba Cannal’s Amapiano production at the heart of the five-track project.
